BC Corrections

BC Corrections, part of the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General, is responsible for Adult Custody, which operates correctional facilities throughout the province. ACG is providing project management and systems development support to Adult Custody Health Services and assisting in the development of a Primary Assessment and Care (PAC) module within the Integrated Public Health Information System (iPHIS). For the PAC system, ACG provided project management for implementation in all the Adult Correctional Centres across BC. These Centres went from being paper based to using an electronic information system that all Health Care staff now use (i.e., dentists, physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, mental health screeners and coordinators, and medical office assistants). During the implementation, ACG developed the training documentation and trained all the users on the system as well as providing implementation support for two weeks after each Centre went live with PAC. ACG continues to manage the ongoing development support of PAC, manages and provides Help Desk support, which includes database administrator support.

IBM Canada—Panorama Project

Canada Health Infoway (CHI) has identified Public Health Surveillance as an Investment Program Commitment and has provided funding to develop and deploy an integrated solution for the Pan-Canadian Public Health Communicable Disease Surveillance and Management Project with the intent to implement the system in all jurisdictions. Panorama will support the reduction of morbidity and mortality from communicable disease, through investment in a new generation of surveillance systems in Canada. It will help protect Canadians through the timely, accurate and efficient collection and distribution of information, which will optimize scarce public health resources. Through the Panorama project, jurisdictions will adopt, implement and deploy six system components that are available through the pan-Canadian Public Health Surveillance Solution:

    • Immunization Registry
    • Immunization Management
    • Vaccine Ordering and Distribution
    • Communicable Disease
    • Outbreak Management
    • Work Management.

Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA)

VIHA provides health care services, hospital, community, and home care, as well as environmental and public health services, including education and prevention, to more than 700,000 people. ACG developed tools to improve program and client management for the Audiology Department. After creating user requirements, it was found that implementing customized web-based reports available across the Health Authority would be the best solution. ACG built and delivered unique surveillance and management reports, which are being used by most audiology departments across the province of British Columbia.
